Q: So how do we do achieve this ?
A: We focus on products and applications that can be supported via a Structured Cabling System. By doing this it helps to minimise an organisation’s costs by reducing the amount of specialist trades that are required to support these applications and often the support of these services can be incorporated, with very little effort, in to an organisation’s IT Department.
Q: How does it work?
A: The days of computer cabling purely providing connectivity between PCs and Terminals have long gone. Nowadays a twisted pair cable delivers so much more than it did 20 years ago. Now it is possible to support virtually every application required by companies in their day to day business processes.
Structured cabling, along with the internet protocol and PoE (Power over Ethernet), have revolutionised the way that we are now able to deliver and support many of an office’s essential services, making the delivery and maintenance of the services more efficient and cost effective than they have ever been before.
By placing different services over one common infrastructure, a company can rapidly reduce it’s overall cost of ownership, in terms of maintenance and support staff.
For a long time it’s been commonplace to combine data and telephony across a structured cabling system but it is now possible to incorporate office security, with IP CCTV and Access Control, Audio Visual requirements, including IPTV and even Building management.

The primary benefit of using Mobotix high-resolution cameras is that the stored images are more revealing and provide stronger evidence than other formats. IP networks have radically changed TV systems in buildings. Until recently TV was distributed via an expensive and often cumbersome coaxial cable system. This was difficult to manage and upgrade as well as being unreliable, and could only transmit high-quality pictures over limited distances. It often suffered interference because of poor cable quality or mains electrical supply, causing ghosting and dead zones on transmitted images. It was also, more often than not, installed outside the traditional contractual procurement routes, which exacerbated the problems.The development of a TV to IP gateway interface has enabled terrestrial and satellite services to be plugged directly into a LAN, allowing live broadcast TV and radio to be distributed across a building or campus network. This is a significant development and follows the trend of electronic devices such as telephones, CCTV and building management systems, card readers, and so on, connecting to and communicating via the network.This so-called network IPTV, whereby all TV, including satellite and terrestrial feeds, can be streamed directly onto an ethernet network and distributed to any point around the building, does not have any of the problems of the traditional system. As a result, media, financial, leisure and retail companies are increasingly looking to replace their troublesome and fragile coaxial systems with an Exterity IPTV solution.

A structured cabling system (SCS) is a set of cabling and connectivity products that integrates the voice, data, video, and various management systems of a building, such as safety alarms, security access, energy systems, etc and the costs for the cabling of the voice, data, and BMS can be reduced by up to 30 percent when integrating an SCS and the method of delivery. One project team can engineer, install, and project manage the installation for all the cabling. Trade contention is reduced, scheduling is easier, and ultimately the project runs more efficiently. If something goes wrong, the customer only has to deal with one team for systems integration.
The length of the overall project for engineering and installation can also be reduced by consolidating the cabling installation.The key to this is early planning. If the systems (voice, data, fire, security, HVAC, etc.) are bid and designed separately, costs for delivering the cable will increase and flexibility will decrease. Costs can be minimized and flexibility can be increased if delivery methods are shared for the various services. How the cabling is delivered to the work areas and devices will ultimately determine the cost of changes and rearrangements. One integrated cabling system and cable-delivery method can be implemented, versus five or six individual cabling systems and delivery methods
.Moves, changes, rearrangements, and upgrades can be performed more cost-effectively, with a potential savings of 25 to 40 percent for material and labour when using an open-office cabling approach. There is less disruption to the work environment, which also affects the cost and performance of doing business. In addition, with only one cabling system to administer, the response time to end-user cabling requests is reduced. This also reduces the time required to maintain the cabling system. How the building is built today will ultimately determine how much it costs to live there tomorrow.
